INTERNATIONAL DX NEWS
GERMANY DW plans to cut half a dozen language services: Spanish to Latin
America, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovenian and Japanese. Portuguese to Brazil
would remain only via Internet. This is not definitive, but there is a great
possibility that this happens. It is is not a reason of savings, they say,
just a different behavior of the cultural and informative politics toward
other countries. This politics intends not to favour overseas services to
areas/countries where information markets are private and exist without
being under state control. (Commentary in DW's Spanish programme as understood
by Horacio Nigro in Montevideo Uruguay).
PERU Radio Coremarca, appears on 5645.6 kHz. An oldtimer on shortwave has
reappeared under a new name, reports Colombian DXer Rafael Rodriguez in a recent
Review of International Broadcasting, published by Glenn Hauser. Former Radio
Cultural Amauta (and before that La Voz de San Antonio) now appears on 5645.6
kHz with the name Radio Coremarca, according to Rodriguez. On August 14, at
0115-0130 UTC, this station was heard with the follwoing announcement: "...le
informó la hora 7 de la noche con 20 minutos, Radio Coremarca está transmitiendo
en 1430 amplitud modulada y 5645 Kcs frecuencia internacional onda corta de
los 45 metros....". On August 15, at the same time, the station was heard with
the program Saludando al Oyente, hosted by Eliodoro Chavez Bustamante and
informing its listerners "amigos y amigas de la sintonía de Radio Coremarca
abrimos la cortina de nuestro primer programa dominical, Saludando al Oyente.
Desde Bambamarca le hablamos a todo el Perú através de nuestra onda corta
5645 kcs, frecuencia internacional de los 45 metros... Somos tu Radio
Coremarca, siempre contigo..." (Nordic Shortwave Center).
ZIMBABWE It seems that the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation has reactiveted
the transmitter operating on 4828 kHz. (Ed: See logs)(Mark Veldhuis Netherlands)

LITHUANIA Latvijas Radio, 1350 kHz, verified after 4 months with a QSL card and
a post card with a short note saying that since first August shortwave broadcasts
on 5935 KHz are closed. (Ruud Vos via Hard-Core-DX mailing list).
TURKMENISTAN Turkmen Radio verified, after 6 weeks with a QSL letter. V/S: Mr.
Kakali Karaev, the Chief of technical department. (Guido Schotmans via hard-Core-DX).
UNITED KINGDOM Radio Caroline, 1503 kHz, verified after 12 days with a QSL card
and Merchandise catalogue. Adress: 148 Grange Road, Ramsgate, Kent CT11 9PR, UK.
